A good onboarding flow makes sure new employees see the announcements that matter to them without drowning in noise. This guide walks through setting that up.

## Before the first day

<Steps>
  <Step title="Map teams to channels">
    Decide which channels every new hire should be auto-subscribed to (e.g., **Company News**, **All Hands**) and which are team-specific.
  </Step>
  <Step title="Enable auto-subscribe by team">
    In each team-specific channel, turn on **Auto-subscribe by team** so members are added the moment they join the workspace.
  </Step>
  <Step title="Create a welcome post">
    Draft a pinned post in your onboarding channel with links to key resources, policies, and who-to-ask contacts.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Recommended default channels

| Channel | Visibility | Auto-subscribe |
|---------|-----------|----------------|
| Company News | Organization | Everyone |
| All Hands | Organization | Everyone |
| Team Updates | Team | By team |
| Watercooler | Organization | Optional |

<Note>
Auto-subscribed channels still let members unsubscribe later, except channels marked **Required** in admin settings.
</Note>

## Measuring onboarding engagement

Use the analytics dashboard to confirm new hires are reading their welcome content. Filter by **joined in the last 30 days** and watch the open rate on your welcome post — anything below 80% is a signal to revisit your default channel setup.
